ATMs everywhere. AEON often has low fees (150 THB). Exchange at the city for better rates.

Bus (~150 THB), Grab/Bolt (often 1,400–1,600 THB), taxi (often 1,200–1,500 THB).

First 24 hours in Pattaya

Get oriented, get cash, eat something sensible, then explore.

  • • Store passport in your room safe
  • • Walk your neighborhood
  • • Find the nearest 7-Eleven
  • • Spot: beach / main road / ATM

Get cash (smart)

  • • AEON ATM often has the lowest fees
  • • Withdraw larger amounts less often
  • • City exchange is usually better than airport counters

First meal ideas

Start easy: Pad Thai, Khao Pad (fried rice), Gai Yang (grilled chicken), mango sticky rice.

Quick safety reminders

Pattaya is generally safe—until you help scammers help you.

Don’t ❌

  • Don’t criticize the monarchy (serious legal risk)
  • Don’t rent jet skis (scam hotspot)
  • • Don’t leave your passport with motorbike rentals
  • • Don’t accept “free” tours (they end at gem shops)

Respect local culture

Tiny gestures = smooth travel. Big ego = big friction.
