Getting to Phuket
Phuket International Airport (HKT)
Located in the north of the island, about 30-40km from main beach areas.
To Patong: 45-60 minutes, ฿800-1,000 taxi To Kata/Karon: 50-70 minutes, ฿900-1,100 taxi Smart Bus: ฿100-150, connects airport to main beaches
Where to Stay
Patong Beach
Phuket's busiest area - beaches, shopping, nightlife. Best for: First-timers, nightlife lovers
Kata Beach
More relaxed, good surf, family-friendly. Best for: Families, couples, surfers
Karon Beach
Long beach, less crowded than Patong. Best for: Beach lovers, quieter vibe
Kamala Beach
Upscale and peaceful, near Phuket Fantasea. Best for: Families, luxury seekers
Rawai/Nai Harn (South)
Local feel, excellent seafood, beautiful beaches. Best for: Longer stays, authentic experience
Must-Know Tips
- Rent a motorbike - Best way to explore (but be careful!)
- Book island tours - Day trips to Phi Phi, Similan are must-dos
- Respect the beaches - No smoking, take your trash
- Monsoon season swimming - Red flags mean dangerous currents
- Negotiate taxi fares - Or use Grab

- Staying only in Patong (explore the island!)
